Plays against Tight Player

There is so many writing all around internet about been successful in cash games after learning how to play against loose players (VPIP over 40 and etc). Lots of articles about table selection and how important it is to find and keep them in You table.

Truth for me is - I am playing a lot at ZOOM tables and there is not possible to choose tables. After almost two Years playing at micro-stakes I seen more Tight players around tables then Loose Players. Yes they might be Passive or Aggressive and some are just Regular players coming to play every day.
There is how I understand their weaknesses and how I would try play against them.

This is not table for complete beginners and there is not much comments around plays. (If there will be need for comments please ask questions) and like lately, it will cost You $0.99 to be able to see full table :)

Re Raise/ 3 Bet Light (Focus points 4)

1) Stop limping. Nothing is justified to limp. No excuses. Don't limp hoping to flop well

2) Call/limp with hands that have huge postflop potential.
Remember cards floping well to everybody who is involved in hand – not only for You. Important part is to see flop as cheap as possible. Remember NOT to call don't call RAISES with those hands. If raiser will hit – You kicker will be probably lower and might cost You lots of chips.

3) Stop CALLING raises with Hands that flop well

RAISE if You are first to enter
or LIMP/CHECK
NO RERAISES (3 BETS)

RERAISE more often – Reraise Premium hands always

3 BET LIGHT Reraise with hands what are not good to call

To read all context = $ 0.99 :)

Importance to know when to give up

Importance to know when to give up

I been reading a lot around Internet how people did start winning on the levels after they realised where is FOLD button and how to use it. After (saying) writing it usually this is all the information what You can get out of them.

This is my view and how do I understand it after playing several hundred thousand hands.

Preflop – Place where You are deciding to PLAY or FOLD Your Hand. Most important decision – Put Your chips in and start to fight for pot or FOLD and wait for better hand ….easier opponent.... better position ?
I will not talk about hands You should play (or fold) anyway , only about hands You might consider folding/calling/ raising if all aspects are not or are on Your side.

Gut instinct is important too, but let see how HUD can help us to make this decision. All You decisions in poker game should depend on information You have about Your opponents.

Again - after paying $ 0.99 and reading WHOLE Article is not promise that You will be right away better player, but it will give You some more ideas how to improve Your Game. Happy reading :)

Attack the Habits

Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken Warren Buffet

Everything we are doing more then 75% of the time is habit. (I think). Same opposite – if we choose not to do something 25 % of the time – we can call it habit too. Most importantly HABITS ARE MOST HARD THINGS TO BEAT. We are doing such the things automatically about not thinking situations true. Specially with cash game players – we all are playing thousands hands per day or hundred thousands hands per month.
But, HABITS ARE POSSIBLE to change. Be noticed mostly it will take several weeks before You are able to do so.
After reading all this article check You own STATS too and think where You might need to have improvements in You own game.

PREFLOP HABITS

VPIP (Voluntarily Put In Pot)
RFI (Raised First In)
SQUEEZE

POSTFLOP HABITS

Cbet (how often payer will continue betting on the flop)
Fold to Cbet (how often player will fold after facing Cbet)
Fold to 3 bet

BLIND STEALING/DEFENDING HABITS

3Bet Steal (how often player will answer with 3 bet to You blind stealing).
Steal (how often player will attempt to steal Your Blinds).

To read ALL about ''Attacking the Habits'' You Have to pay $ 0.99 From now on.  Every article I will write and if it does consist the inside information how I think or play, it  will cost half of the amount needed for Buy in on the level where I am playing. LEVEL 1 - buy in $2 = $0.99.
This is not promise that after reading whole article  it will make You better player :). You still have to work hard and play thousands hands by Yourself. Reading those articles might give You some ideas how to do it better. Hopefully after paying that small amount it will make You take it more seriously too. :)

Mindset for session

Mindset for session

Mostly I play at Zoom tables. I will start with 4 tables (max You can join) and buy in will be also max = $ 2. Equals risk $8 .I will set timer for 30 min and 1 hour. If I feel after half an hour frustrated or not giving full attention – I will quit and move away from table. (Did write before in blog – we as human can mostly work 45 min with full attention at row.) After 45 min You brain will need bit rest.

It is not that important anymore do I win or loose session.

Aim is = if I do loose then possible min amount.

  1. No all ins PREFLOP = any two cards can win in this game specially then You don't have any control what will show up at flop. Without seeing flop and willing to risk with 100 BB is not much profitable game. It is more greed – You hoping win big without working hard for it. In my life mostly what easy comes that easy goes. Not worth.
  2. Starting hands. I think J.Little answered that question for me in his ''Little Poker Advice'' = somebody did ask him why he don't make videos about ''bad hands'' he been dealt. Answer was (not word by word) – He don't know any good players who are playing bad hands they are dealt. Meaning – they just don't play wrong hands in wrong position. If You are aiming to win session You can't afford to play bad starting hands in wrong position. Simple as that
  3. Things are not going You way always. Nobody can't have everything. Let You hand go. If You are holding third best hand at the flop then probably You are not winning this hand at showdown. Meaning ''Third best hand'' - you have third pair, table has possible straight or flush and You are holding second pair, You have Top pair but third possible kikker and so on. There is only two ways to win this hand – give up or bluff. Mostly I will give up. Why? To bluff profitably You must know You opponent is able to lay down their ''good/winning hands'' (not happening often in micro levels) or ''fear factor'' will push him/her away from hand (not happening much at micro levels ether)

Aim is = win little by little

  1. After opening four tables I will not add any money for them if I loose. I will not hold 100 BB always on the table. Why? To control myself. Then I started this blog I went into game with 50 BB and I did win. It is possible to work up again and having less then 100 BB will put me willing to fight and focus more then having 200 BB. (Everybody is different). It works for me Also having less then 100 BB will give some payers idea about playing against bad player and they are willing to risk with their chips. It is much written in blogs that player in cash game having less then max amount is not very good at game. I just refuse to believe that
  2. After winning 50 % of my investment per table ($2 buy in = 50 % profit is $1 = $3 at the table) I will leave this table for good for this session. Finished. Not having any excuse to add an other table with max buy in – it is finished for this session and I will go on with 3 – 2- 1 or 0 tables. Even if this will happen before my timer goes off. :) If I do win at least $ 4 per session it will be 50% profit per hour or even less. Not bad !? Why? To take out Greed – having back 50% of You investment is very very good in any business. Should be enough. Secondly – having huge amount BBs front of You will put many potential ''bad'' players off bluffing at You. You must do something right by having more chipps then others – why to mess with this player? = and they just move on. This is my two reasons not to have more then 150 BB at the table front of me

WITH THIS MINDSET I CAN MAX LOOSE $8 PER HOUR OR WIN MIN $4 PER HOUR. Sounds good :)

HERO CALLS -PREFLOP AND FLOP

Loosing money = Big Hero calls at PREFLOP AND FLOP

Did look over my last week perfomance and.....I do good still...there is coming up one or two hands during session where I can't resist but making ''Hero'' call(s)

Where and when it happens

  1. PreFlop

Calling All in with Premium Hands Like QQ – AA, or AK, AK suited

TO AVOID
Remember = any two cards can win in this game. It is not worth to risk with hundred or more BBs for fast win. It will take far to long fight and get them back. Even vs loose openers or if You are in Position (it really does not matter in case of ALL IN)
Also not making big ''Hero'' calls like those will help You to avoid falling in TILT. Couple looses like this certainly will not help You mood during this or next session(s).
NOTHING WILL HAPPEN FAST AND YOU CAN'T FORCE YOURSELF TO WIN
  1. Flop
OUTS
Did figure out = calling at Flop without at least 6 outs is – EV play. 6 Outs will give You around 25% chance to win hand at the end. Really You could call only ¼ of pot. Most Cbets are half the pot size so You have to be in ''Good Spot'' if You are calling BET bigger then ¼ the pot.

OPPONENT(S) SHOULD HAVE:
HIGH CBET STAT (over 60 at least/everything over 80 is great)
Mostly Player who will like to take stab and win Pot easy way by making Cbet almost every time
LOW TURN BET (under 30/ everything under 20 is great)
Mostly passive players. Also players who have read or heard about Cbet and will make it but don't know how to play at turn if their hand did not ''hit''
HIGH CBET AND HIGH TO FOLD TurnBET (over 60 at least/ everything over 80 is great)
Players who will make Cbet but are not ''brave'' enough to fight ''till the end''.Also players who have read or heard about Cbet and will make it but don't know how to play at turn if their hand did not ''hit''
LOW WTSD STAT (under 30/everything under 20 is great)
Players who will give their hand up before the showdown far to easily. You got to pressure them and they will give up if they don't hold good hand with what they will put up the fight. If they do = do not be HERO and call
HIGH RAISE FIRST IN STAT(over 20 at least/ everything over 40 is great)
Mostly loose aggressive players who will raise in (not limping or calling) with many marginal hands in hope to take pot here and now. You got to play with those kind of guys = they are the ones who might make costly mistakes. If You have position and other stats are promising jump in. It might be You lucky day :)
NEXT TIME IF YOU THINK ABOUT CALLING THE CBET = DO IT ONLY IF YOU SPOT ONE OF THOSE STATS AT LEAST

Focus Points for this week . Turn play, different play lines

Turn play, different play lines

IP Line – bet- bet -call (bluff catcher) = versus players who are capable bluff in given situation (Board texture) = check their river lines and WTSD %, W$SD
= versus players whom post flop play is very aggressive.
Check their Cbet activity – higher it is more You can use
this line

IP Line – bet – bet -call (setting up for river value bet) = If You actually have hand

IP Line – check call, check call = Count You odds = Control the pot Flop and Turn. What is You holdings? Are You in EV+ ?

OOP line – check check, check check = You are inducing bet from opponent. NEVER against aggressive player. Do You want opponent to see next card? How many cards are helping them?Is it helping You? Board texture. Check their turn stats. Can You force them to fold by betting? Is it better fold fold for Yourself?
OOP line – bet call, bet call = NEVER use this line versus passive player. You are better off by betting first. Only versus hyper aggressive player (bluff catcher or setting up for river value bet) if You actually have hand

Turn line Bet/ fold with marginal hand vs passive player. PASSIVE PLAYER IS PASSIVE FOR REASON

ALSO – TO REMEMBER

Tighten up pre flop range (consider more carefully hands You like to fight seriously) or just look forward to play next hand. There is always next hand coming up You might be better off

Positional play

CO You are IP. Do not call with small suited connectors – 3 bet or fold
EP You are OOP – mostly players will raise EP raiser with top hands. Check the player stats and ONLY fold or 3 bet

Focus Points for next week

An other loosing week - so tired about this. Made lots of mistakes and played then too tired. Hmm....
Excuses excuses...and one more time excuses...

THINGS TO FOCUS NEXT WEEK

PASSIVE PLAY - mostly calling down three streets.

CALL or FOLD vs  Passive player = no reason to let them see next card and hit the hand. Should play much more focused and bet more often. Bet on flop or turn but not three streets. Some of them are big time slow players and don't bet even nuts. If there is resistant go ahead and call if there is reason (You have hand or draw - count You odds) or fold. REMEMBER = PASSIVE PLAYER IS PASSIVE FOR REASON

CALL or BET vs Aggressive player = play against if table has draw(s). Should play only  like bluff catcher. Hoping he/she will bet by themselves till ''dead''. Count You odds and check situation

RAISED with TOP PAIR - You have TP or any marginal hand and You are not sure what to do next

CALL Flop             vs Aggressive player if board includes draws.
Turn IP      - Decide if You would like to go showdown with this hand.
                      OOP - bet/fold never check/call
CALL or FOLD vs  Passive player = no reason to let them see next card and hit the hand
REMEMBER = PASSIVE PLAYER IS PASSIVE FOR REASON

200 days left....

OK....I am back. Not with very big hopes but still. Did take easy last couple months. Managed to be in winning stake but at the end of the month back to losing even more. Did join gym last month...will try eat healthy...More and more it coming to me - it is not how I play (I think I can do ok), but how I feel during session mentally and physically. Then I started this blog I was able to win at the end f the month but not any more More I studied and just tried to play ''right'' more did I loose and it took over with frustration I think.

Still have 200 days left this year to make difference. Will give it my best :)

NEW APPROACH

Like You see = it was an other minus month in my poker career. :)
Good point is - I did approve to myself what I am capable to play 50 000+ hands per month
Bad point though - it wasn't + in my purse but minus

GOAL FOR THIS MONTH IS - MAKE 5$ PER DAY - To take creed out and remind to myself why I am doing all this (to make money, not to spend time) Probably I will take some days off - don't know yet. After making $5 - whatever one session or more - I will call it day. Might play some tournament or try another site. Did bit research around internet and figured out -Stars reward program is not very good any more (If You are not extremely lucky person). They have best traffic but not very good rake. Best I did find at the moment is Party Poker (25 points = $5 per week and so on) - did try there yesterday - traffic is low - but not too bad. Might go there more to figure out.

Wish me luck :)
