Bankroll management is for winning players only – Yes, I know.
Still, You got to have
some kind of plan to move forward, even without being a winning player already.
One way to keep up your dream and beat levels one by one is to reduce buy-ins. Maybe it is more correct not even call it to bankroll but just play money. The money you can afford to reach your dream. Let say:
Assumingly you will start with bankroll 40 buy-ins per level. Which is mostly recommended, if you are not a complete beginner. More is better and if complete beginner it is at least 100 buy-ins recommended.
LEVEL 1 (Blinds 0.01/0.02) 40 buy-ins - $80
LEVEL 2 (Blinds 0.02/0.05) 40 buy-ins - $200
Let say now that you are happy to put in ‘’one dinner out money’’ (or play money) and you will try to move up from level 1 to level 2. You should earn then half amount only - $60
LEVEL 1 (Blinds 0.01/0.02) 20 buy-ins - $40
LEVEL 2 (Blinds 0.02/0.05) 20 buy-ins - $100
If you are not a complete beginner and you will play at the Zoom (Fast etc.) tables, it is quite possible to go thru 500 hands per hour. One table around 100 hands per hour. With ring games, you got to add more tables – 1 table around 40 – 50 hands per hour.
Realistically you will play faster in some tables and not that fast other tables, but let say - your hand count at the end of the one-hour session will be 500 approx.
If you will manage to play 20 sessions or 20 hours per week, it will take you up to 10 000 hands end of the week and to 40 000 hands end of the month.
Accordingly:
Marginal/winning players win rate is 1.5 -2 per 100 hands
Good
winning players win rate is around 5 per 100 hands
Top
winning players win rate is 8 per 100
hands
WIN RATE 2/100 = 0.04 cents per 100 hands;
1 session/1 hour/500 hands =
0.20 cents;
20 sessions per week = $4 and 10 000 hands
Your possible win
during the week will be 4 dollars and during the month around 16 dollars. The
another way to say it is: during your 20 hours play week and 10 000 hands you
will earn 16 dollars, it will be 0.20 per hour. Sad, but true.
With win rate 2/100 to earn necessary $60 and move up to the next level you got to work very, very hard:
$4 = 10 000 hands and
20 hours per week,
$16 = 40 000 hands and
80 hours per month
$60 = 150 000 hands
and 3,75 months, or
$120 = 300 000 hands
and 7,5 months
WIN RATE 5/100 = 0.10 cents per 100 hands
1 session/1 hour/500 hands =
0.50 cents;
20 sessions per week =
$10 and 10 000 hands
Your possible win
during the week will be 10 dollars and during the month around 40 dollars.
Another way to say it is: during your 20-hour play per week and 10 000hands you will earn 10
dollars, which takes you to 0.5 dollars per hour. Still pretty sad.
With win rate 5/100 to earn necessary $60 and move up to the next level you got to work very hard too:
$10 = 10 000 hands and
20 hours per week
$40 = 40 000 hands and
80 hours per month
$60 = 60 000 hands and
1,5 months, or
$120 = 120 000 hands
and 3 months
WIN RATE 8/100 = 0.16 cents per 100 hands
1 session/1 hour/ 500 hands =
0.80 cents
20 sessions = $16 and
40 000 hands
Your possible win
during the week will be 16 dollars and during the month around 64 dollars. The
another way to say it: during your 20 hours play week you will be able to earn 16 dollars = $0.80 per hour. Way above the minimum hourly rate in real world
With win rate 8/100 to earn necessary $60 and move up to the next level you got to work very hard too, but bit fewer hours:
$16 = 10 000 hands and
20 hours per week
$64 = 40 000 hands and
80 hours per month
$128 = 80 000 and 2
months
That's the reality and sad truth.
First of all, you got to be a winning player to move from one level to another.
For the second it is hard work to earn the right to move from one level to another. Might take months and definitely ten thousand hands, but
for third - you can start it with ''one dinner out money''. Is it worth? Can you cook?
